Overview

OHS Supervision & Safety

This course is developed by the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety. It is designed for all supervisors, and includes an overview of the legislation, the roles and principles of a Workplace Responsibility System (WRS), supervisors’ legal duties, the components of effective OHS systems, and “how to supervise safety”.

Supervisors are critical to safe workplaces because they are closest to the actual work being done and can address and resolve worker concerns. They must

  • Understand the Act and Regulations
  • Understand their company’s safety program
  • Understand the need for and safe use of PPE
  • Understand emergency procedures required under the legislation
  • Comply with the Act and Regulations
  • Ensure workers they supervise understand and comply with the Act and Regulations
  • Support and cooperate with the Occupational Health Committee or Representative

Parkland College offers a full array of industry recognized safety training courses for individuals and businesses in East Central Saskatchewan and West Central Manitoba. The courses are delivered by certified trainers and meet or exceed O.H.& S. Standards. We offer face to face and online options plus we can customize courses and deliver them on-site to meet the needs of businesses.

Students are considered registered when:

  • Payment is received OR
  • Sponsorship by employer or funding agency is confirmed.

Notice of cancellation must be received 3 business days prior to the course.

Important Notes:

  • On the first day of training registration is at 8:00 a.m. and classes begin at 8:30 a.m.
  • Yorkton Safety Classes are held at the Trades & Technology Centre at 273 Dracup Ave North.
  • Schedule of Classes subject to change – additional classes will be offered if enough demand.
  • Community/Municipality Students: Credit Equivalent (Continuing Education Unit-CEU) Available – Call for more information
