Strategic Plan Community Engagement Sessions

Strategic Plan Community Engagement Sessions

Welcome to the Parkland College and Cumberland College Coalition Strategic Planning information portal. This page provides updates on the state of the planning process, and details about Community Engagement Session locations, dates, and events. You will also find links to registration information, as well as an online survey if you are unable to attend an in-person event or if you are interested in sharing more ideas with the colleges.

Background

The two colleges have formed a pilot Coalition focused on improving operational efficiencies and organizational effectiveness. The colleges are collaborating closely in a number of areas that will see them better utilize resources and improve outcomes. One key deliverable is the creation of a Five-Year Coalition Strategic Plan which involves robust consultations with internal and external stakeholders.

Parkland College (www.parklandcollege.sk.ca) offers training and services in East-Central Saskatchewan, has campuses in Yorkton, Melville, Kamsack, Canora, Fort Qu’Appelle, and Esterhazy, and provides specialized training in First Nations such as Cote and Keeseekoose.

Cumberland College (www.cumberlandcollege.sk.ca) is situated in North-East Saskatchewan, has campuses in Nipawin, Melfort and Tisdale, and provides specialized training in other communities such as James Smith First Nation and Muskoday First Nation.

Both colleges offer adult basic education to prepare students for employment or post-secondary education, essential work skills training, college-level programming and university-level courses and programs. They provide corporate training to support workforce development and Parkland College also engages in applied research. The colleges are important entities in their communities and play significant roles in providing students young and old with access to high-quality education close to home.

We believe the colleges have the potential to play even larger roles in their communities and are eager to hear your thoughts and ideas on how we can increase collaboration with our communities to enhance their social, economic and environmental development.

How to Participate

We are holding Community Engagement Sessions in 16 communities across East-Central and North-East Saskatchewan. The locations, dates, and times, along with registration links, are listed in the table below. To register for a session, click on your community’s name in the Registration column and you will be re-directed to the registration site.

As you are a community stakeholder, we would be pleased to have your input in this process and invite you and/or a designate to participate in one of the Strategic Planning Community Engagement Sessions. This session will provide an overview of the Coalition and offer an opportunity for you to share your input on priorities and actions that the Coalition and colleges could address to support economic, environmental, and social development in your region. We will also seek feedback on how the colleges could help you meet your employment requirements and business’ training needs as well as the training needs of the region.

Please RSVP by a few days before your event date so that we can ensure there is sufficient food and beverages. A continental breakfast will be served at events starting at 8:30 a.m. and lunch for midday events. Beverages and snacks will be provided at the other times.
