Employers are lining up to hire YOU!

February 7th, 2014

Last week, we announced a new pilot project in conjunction with the federal and provincial governments: the Agricultural Operator program starts in Yorkton on March 3. It is a module-based program that will offer practical, hands-on training to anyone who wants to work on Saskatchewan farms.

And let me tell you, there’s a ton of interest from employers in the Parkland Region. The response has been incredible, and they’re practically lining up to hire everyone who comes through this program.

As Saskatchewan Agriculture Minister Lyle Stewart said at our news conference last week, “Producers have indicated that they need more skilled labour for their operations and this program directly responds to their needs.” We are seeing that firsthand right now.

It starts with a seeding module in Yorkton in just a few weeks (hands-on workshops March 3-5 and April 14-16, along with six online sessions). A spraying and scouting module comes later in the spring, followed by one on harvest in the summer.

In short, if you need a job or want to try a new career, sign up for this program today!
