$35,000 in Entrance Scholarships Awarded to 22 Parkland College Students

Yorkton, SK–On September 28, Parkland College awarded $35,000 in scholarships to 22 students from across the east-central region at its awards ceremony held at the Gallagher Centre in Yorkton. The scholarships being awarded are an addition to the $32,500 awarded earlier this year. The students recognized are all recipients of Parkland College entrance scholarships. All of these recipients have chosen to gain either university or technical skills post-secondary training at one of the five Parkland College campuses.

The scholarships are made possible through the generosity of local businesses and organizations, community members, College staff, Dollars for Scholars Golf Tournament, and Advanced Education, Employment and Labour’s Centennial Merit Scholarship program. The Centennial Merit Program is a matching program in which funds are provided on a dollar for dollar basis with local non-government donors. For every dollar raised locally, the province will match that dollar to support scholarships for high academic achievers.

Parkland College provides scholarships to local students pursuing post-secondary education. This is the third year that Parkland College has had a standalone entrance scholarship program and the fourth year that the College has offered entrance scholarships to students who are entering full-time post-secondary programs at Parkland College. The Entrance Scholarship fund has grown from $8,000 in the first year to $35,000 this year, from 4 to 22 scholarships in university, trades, health, and business.
