Parkland College, ECRF release annual research report

Parkland College and the East Central Research Foundation (ECRF) have released their annual research report for 2016. The report recaps the partnership’s progress last year and provides thorough details on 11 experimental trials conducted at three farm sites just outside of Yorkton.

In 2016, researchers conducted trials on numerous field crops including oats, lentils, soybeans, wheat, corn, flax, and faba beans. The projects looked at the effects of a wide variety of variables, such as crop rotation, seeding rates, and fungicide and fertilizer use. The complete report can be viewed at

ECRF signed a memorandum of understanding with Parkland College in 2013 to jointly conduct applied research in the Yorkton area. This made Parkland the first regional college in Saskatchewan to undertake an applied research program. The partnership also provides the College with a location and equipment to use for training students. The College and ECRF have access to different funding sources, further strengthening the partnership.
