Environmental Sustainability course coming to Balcarres

February 4th, 2021

In the face of climate change and food security concerns, environmental sustainability is more important than ever. That’s why Parkland College is partnering with Wakayos Employment and Training Centre on a new Essential Skills program in Balcarres.

Essential Skills for Environmental Sustainability begins March 8. The three-month course is an eco-friendly program that will teach construction basics with a focus on roofing systems. Participants will receive entry-level certification in solar panel installation, along with First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, and Fall Protection training. On-site job-shadows and tours will be provided, as well.

The course is ideal for anyone thinking about an environmentally sustainable career or for those with an interest in alternative energy sources and growing food at home.

If you’re interested, please call or email to pre-register. You’ll need to attend one of the three intake sessions on Feb. 10, Feb. 11, or Feb. 23.
