Essential Skills Training
Essential Skills are needed for success in work, learning and life. They are the foundational skills that make it easier to learn all other skills. A strong foundation in Essential Skills can help people perform tasks required by their occupation, provide people with foundation for learning other skills, and enhance peoples’ ability to be innovative and adapt to workplace change.
Parkland College offers customized training to respond to the specific needs of your organization and the current or future needs of employees. Newly learned skills can be applied immediately with visible results.
An assessment can be conducted to determine an individuals Essential Skill level in three main areas: Reading Text, Document Use and Numeracy. The College can then provide a targeted training program to assist people to build Essential skills necessary for competency in tasks.
