Enhance Your Skills in Apparatus Driving/Operation

A fire department vehicle contains an array of sophisticated apparatus. With this training learn how to make the most of its capabilities – and yours. Excellent skill development for general firefighters and pump operators, and an opportunity to cross-train personnel as backup to vehicle operators.

Certification requires successful completion of NFPA 1001 Level I and a recognized defensive driving credential. Upon successful completion of training modules, eligible candidates may apply for IFSAC and ProBoard certification.

NFPA 1002 Fire Apparatus Pumping Operations Prerequisites: NFPA 1072 Dangerous Goods Awareness; NFPA 1072 Dangerous Goods Operations; NFPA 1001 Firefighter I (indluding medical qualifications) OR NFPA 1081 Industrial Fire Advanced Exterior OR NFPA 1081 Industrial FIre Interior Structural; and NFPA 1002 Driver/Operator
You will learn pump performance, relay, apparatus service tests, pump maintenance, foam fire streams and hydraulic calculations used in the fire service, and the flow of water through large diameter hose, and single- and double-hose lays..
NFPA 1002 Advanced Pumping Operations Prerequisite: Basic Pumping Operations
Covers types and construction of aerial apparatus, hydraulic systems, operating, positioning and stabilizing aerial apparatus, strategies and tactics, elevated master streams and aerial apparatus testing.
NFPA 1002 IAPD Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Prerequisite: 18 years of age, class 5 license and air brakes
Includes both lectures and hands on driving. Upon completion students will receive certificate from International Academy of Professional Driving.
